I started in facilities management before most of the software that claims to solve compliance even existed. For over two decades I managed plant rooms, coordinated PPM schedules, ran water testing programmes, and sat through HSE inspections with paper logbooks that were never quite complete enough.
The tools that existed were either built for IT teams who had never seen a dosing pump, or designed around a workflow that no duty holder actually follows. Most of them assumed you had reliable Wi-Fi in a basement plant room. None of them understood that the person doing the 06:00 test is not the same person reviewing the data at 14:00.
